As mentioned yesterday, I knew I was going to end up with an extra email this month, but I didn’t know it was going to happen so soon! But today’s been just as eventful and full of celebrations as yesterday, because today Gizmodo got to exclusively reveal my last book coming out in 2024: a Star Wars picture book!
I have been keeping this picture book a secret for a LONG time. Some of you may remember when I posted this. I first found out about the possibilty of working about this here, when I had snuck off to my local bakery for a writing day. Suffice to say, all my writing plans went out the window while I silently screamed with joy, and then I had to keep this secret for more than an entire YEAR after that, AUGH. Sometimes, it didn’t even feel like it was real and was really going to happen, but then…. THEN!!!!
Basically, this is a book that loves love. The main premise is that, on Han and Leia’s wedding day, a curious young Ewok wants to know what love actually is, and they both explain it in their unique way. Yes, there are Easter eggs and hidden goodies in the pictures (shout out to illustrator Sophie Li, who is a genius!)! Yes, this does show the wedding as portrayed in The Princess and the Scoundrel, but it also shows MORE.
And I know this is a lot of me invading your inbox, so I won’t overstay my welcome. But before I skeedaddle, a friendly reminder: you can get ANY of my books signed through my local indie bookstore, Malaprops, including pre-orders! Any book ordered through them can be signed, personlized, and will include any pre-order goodies that ultimately may (or may not) get developed. It’s your one-stop for all the best stuff! Plus, it supports local indie bookstores and is valuable to our Main Street community!
And…that’s almost all the secrets I have for this year. (But not all! Sorry, not sorry!) To recap:
August 6: Full Speed to a Crash Landing: snarky and fun space romp featuring a Sherlock vs. River Song vibe! Very much for adult audiences!
October 1: The Fate of Magic: sequel to Night of the Witch. What happens to Fritzi and Otto after the cliffhanger? Why are there not more beds in medieval German inns? YA for the slightly older set!
December 3: Someone Who Loves You: picture book of Han and Leia’s wedding! Full of adorable Ewoks and Woklings! Very fun! Great for ALL AGES!
This is amazing news! Congratulations!
This is very cool and I must have it!
