LAST CHANCE...to save the world (and also loot something in the process)
Book Launch! Plus the Egyptian connection, discount pricing, and more
It’s here, it’s here! The final book in the Chaotic Orbits trilogy, Last Chance to Save the World, is finally here, available wherever books are sold (and your local library)!!
Real quick, as a friendly reminder, you can still purchase Last Chance from my local indie, Malaprops, and get a signed copy, shipped anywhere, and a bonus fun sticker while supplies last! (Also, let me know in the order comments if you need any other the other swag pictured; I have a few extras of most and can add them to your pre-order).
Also! My publisher, DAW Books, has put together a fun giveaway of the complete series. You can enter it on Instagram here :)
Ebook Deal!
If you are an ebook reader, then you’re going to want to know about a special deal on the first two books in the series for e-readers, available on whichever platform you most prefer, including Bookshop, Amazon, and BN.
I absolutely want to get super sappy about these books. They were my “recovery” books—the desperate ones I penned with nothing but sheer hope (and, yes, spite) to guide my way. In a lot of ways, I think of these books as my before and after. They’re a dividing line in my career, a point where my attitude shifted significantly. They mark a point where I have changed as a person, and I will always hold them dear because of it.

Also, there’s lots of cursing, trickery aplenty, and explosions throughout, so what’s not to love?
Instead of getting too sappy about these books, I want to take you on a trip with me—recently the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC, started hosting a Tutankhamen exhibit, and if you’ve read How to Steal a Galaxy, you know that while this book is set in the far future, it largely takes place in a history museum that includes a Tutankhamen display.

If you’d like to read more about the exhibit, as well as see which passages of the book are directly reflected in history, I’ve made a recent Patreon post public for everyone so they can explore more of the behind-the-scenes of both the writing process and the exhibit. Feel free to read it for free here!
What’s Next?
With this trilogy now complete, I’ve heard a lot of… “Well, what’s next?” Ha! Because the wheels of publishing move so slowly, authors often are working on things months and years in advance. And…I’ve been busy. So, a quick recap!
Soon! The audiobooks of Museum of Magic and House of Hex!
October 7, 2025: The Crimson Throne, my next book with Dream Team Sara Raasch and Sourcebooks Fire! This is a historical romantasy set during the reigns of Queen Elizabeth and Mary, Queen of Scots, with spies and traitors and the fae.
Winterish: An unannounced adult historical romantasy with dragons and Vikings!
Also: A short story in an unannounced anthology featuring Ada from the Chaotic Orbits books!
After that: the sequel to The Crimson Throne (October 2026), the sequel to the Viking Dragons (2026/2027), and two new books from Sara and me (2027 and 2028)
Also! My self published Darkness Fills the Void will be published by the end of the year, and I’m in the midst of serializing the contemporary adventure The Global Quest on Patreon, with the first book likely wrapping up at the end of the year.
And this is only the stuff that’s contracted or already in the works! I’ve also been toying with a few different ideas, including some more sci fi and more fantasy. I’ve gotta get back to work!
Upcoming Events
I’ve got heaps of signed books over at Malaprops and on my own website (which combines in swag, too), and if there’s a specific title you’re looking for, let me know—I’ve got limited stock of some of my older books available.
Wanna see me in person?
August 7, Greensboro, NC: Author Q&A and signing at the Glenwood Branch of the Greensboro Library system
August 15-17, Saint Louis, MO: EnchantiCon!
September 5-7: Milwaukee, WI: RomanceCon!
I’m hammering out details for a few more local events coming soon, so if you’re in Asheville NC or Greenville SC area, keep an eye out!
Over on Patreon

The Global Quest mystery is in full swing! This one is based on my most popular video game script from Storyloom, and I’m adding lots of fun new details in the book version—and Patreons not only get to read it early, but also get clues delivered to their real life mailbox. This month was a postcard that reveals the next location in the mystery and fun background details!
(Also, I forgot to put that it was from Patreon on the card, so some people were even more confused by the mysterious “Here’s fun facts about Malta” letter that popped up. Sorry about that!)
For the writers: I’m also continuing my series on developing story from idea to finished novel. Over the past two months, I’ve done two interactive workshops—on idea development and theme—and this month is going to cover tropes, comps, and other ways to refine your idea before starting to write.
Before I go, I want to say:
Thank you.
This is the best job in the world, and I get to do it because of support from readers like you.
Thank you.
You make my dreams become real, and you make my words live. You are magic.
Happy Book Birthday! I'll admit, I did take that dedication personally at first.😉 My review is up on Instagram and all the usual sites.
HAPPY BOOK DAY!! I'm so excited for the final Chaotic Orbits novella! I love this series so much!
